Design & comfort
Bose made a significant redesign in the Earbuds 2 to the first generation, these are more practical and attractive. The black Earbuds, which are in this review, mix glossy and matte finish has a nice touch. They are also IPX4-rated, which ensures they are protected from sweat and water.
I must say I like the new design and how well they fit my ears. Great comfort.
Control panel and touch controls
I felt the tap accuracy could be slightly better. I felt it work decent, and sometimes the response did two things at the same time. It started to play music, then skip to the next.
Those who like to customize the control scheme based on preference will be disappointed. You can only swap out the Shortcut function (long press). Everything else remains assigned to its programmed input method, which is single-, double-, triple-tap or slide gestures.
Google Assist and Siri are compatible and work quite well. The command was on point here.
Sound
The equalizer is very lightweight where you can increase/decrease bass and treble. There are also some pre-set modes you can choose from. Nothing fancy.
Bose new technology called “CustomTune” automatically calibrates ANC and the sound frequency profile to the unique properties of your ear. This gives the Earbuds 2 a sharp and clear sound.
I have tested multiple songs in different categories, and I am impressed by the sound. I also must add the bass is deep and provides the perfect balance.
The active noise-cancellation just got better, is this the market’s best?
Bose lets you custom-tune your ANC to your liking. Whenever you are working in the office or walking outside. You have a mode called “Aware” which let you hear external sounds without having to compromise audio quality. This I had to test in the office and worked quite well.
And you have another called “Quiet” for full ANC. You can also make your own, but max four different modes.
Battery life & charging case
Battery life is said to hold for 6 hours per charge. And with 20 minutes of charging will give you 2 hours of playtime. You are also not able to turn off ANC for better battery life.
The charging case does not provide wireless charging, and quick charging is a bit slow, but having the case fully charged, does help keep your Earbuds fully charged.
