Once you go black(QD-OLED),…

The Samsung Odyssey QD-OLED G8 is as gorgeous as they get. Out of the box, there may be a few tweaks to get the colors and settings to your preference. Coming from a 65" TV as my main gaming monitor, I had to do more than a few changes to get it to the correct resolution, install drivers, and correct the aspect ratio. But once that was done, it turned into the best setup I've ever had. Having a QD-OLED screen makes all the difference. Once you try out an QD-OLED screen, you're never going back to LED. The screen real estate leaves plenty of room for multitasking, and expands your field of view for gaming. The screen is responsive and fast. Sound quality is not the greatest, definitely lacking some bass, but it's there, something not a lot of monitors don't have.
This monitor is a smart monitor. I am not a fan of it as I just use it as a monitor itself, but it does have features such as live TV, apps, and even screen mirroring for your phone. It comes with a remote control, I do wish it had a dedicated menu button to quickly acess your settings. One issue I have noticed with the monitor is there is a lot of screen flickering especially when moving windows around. I am not sure if this is an issue with the monitor itself, or with some settings I need to adjust. Another issue I've come across is whenever the monitor goes on standby, it doesn't detect my display whenever I go back to it, even when moving the mouse, keyboard, and unplugging and replugging the display port. The only solution I've found to this is having to restart the computer, which gets annoying especially when you were in the middle of something. Hopefully this will be fixed in an update, as I could not find any settings to fix it. I will keep tinkering with settings and graphics drivers to see if I am able to find a fix. Other than that, this monitor is near perfect and I will definitely be using it for a long while.
