OLED is a big upgrade

I also have the non-OLED G9 on my other station and the difference with the OLED is really astonishing. The blacks look really deep and make all the other colors pop by contrast.
The other thing that I really like about the G8 is that while it's still ultrawide, it's the standard ultrawide so games are a lot more likely to have support for it's resolution, whereas with the G9 it's sometimes a roll of the dice whether the game will have the correct resolution.
On the sillier side, I will say I like that the back ring is RGB on this model and not just the static blue. It's not as robust as say, a full strip light would be, but if you want some of that ambience that adjusts to your gameplay it's fun.
We did mount this and it's really a process I'd suggest having two people for. You want to be very careful with the panel which is super thin and because of the size it's hard to do any screwing and adjusting while also properly supporting the monitor as a single person. That said, we didn't have any monitor compatibility issues and the weight was just within range of an extra mount we had hanging around (gasket mount) and it's worked perfectly. The metal piece that connects with the VESA mount is where I put pressure on if I want to adjust the monitor in any direction because like I said, the panel is very thin and I hesitate to put any pressure on the bezel at all.
