Solid buds, but...

I was excited to get my hands on the LG TONE Free T90Q's. I have the TONE Free FP8's and was looking forward to the comparison. I also have several other buds from different brands to really put these to the test. A feature that really intrigued me aside from the spatiality of Atmos was head tracking. The case is nice and small, and has the UV cleaning feature.
First I'll get to the fit. I has issues getting the FP8's to sit right in my ears. No matter how hard I tried, I could never really get the seal right and as such bass leaked. I also had to use another brand of silicon tips to get the best fit. It was no different with the T90Q's, but with different tips they do sit fairly well.
I only tested using the phone twice, and in both cases, I was told I sounded distant. I will assume that means the mics must not do the greatest job on focusing on my voice. I heard the other parties just fine.
Most important of course is the sound. I use buds mostly with my Samsung S22 Ultra phone. The app makes it easy to run through the various EQ settings, ANC or Ambient, Dolby with head tracking. Overall I'd say they were a little underwhelming. I usually custom EQ to a U-shape. When I used any of the non Dolby EQ settings in the app, for one volume suffered somewhat with custom. 3D Sound Stage was the most decent of the non Atmos EQ's. They did sound a tad muddier than I would like, instead of more crisp highs. I then turned on the Atmos on my phone. With that setting, what was a bit lacking was clean separation of the channels. The T90Q's channels seemed to close together so a bulk of the sound was forward/center. I then tried the Dolby Head Tracking + Virtual Sound. Overall it produced the best sound quality. The head tracking takes some getting used to. Any head tilt up, down, or to either side does keep the sound in the same point, but every movement the balance leave. It takes a few seconds to adjust the center once you change head orientation.
Overall these are decent and I would recommend them. But they do have some shortcomings to my ears, and as such I can't give them a 5-star review.
