I have carpal tunnel syndrome and neuropathy in my once-strong hands, and one consequence of that is that my hands have become surprisingly weak. Not always; it comes and goes, but it can be painful, and it's always frustrating. I really needed some help, and this jar opener by Joie seemed like the perfect solution. The design is cool because it allows you to use it to open several different sizes of jars and bottles. It bends just enough to open up and accommodate those various sizes, and the outer part of this product is rubberized with finger holds for a comfortable and effective grip. It's small enough to fit in a drawer without taking up too much room, or it can hang from a hook or a rack for quick access. And this opener really works; it makes opening jars and bottles SO EASY, and pain-free, too!
Unfortunately, it isn't as helpful to my life as I would have hoped. It isn't big enough to accommodate larger jar lids...which, of course, are the ones that I have trouble opening. I'm sure this thing will come in handy for plenty of smaller jars, or maybe soda bottles, but I will still need to find some other solution to help me open the pickle jars and others whose lids I can't currently turn. I have so many kitchen gadgets already, and I really wish I could use a single tool to open ALL my bottles and jars rather than two (or more). I do like this jar opener, but I wish it had a few more sizes in its bag of tricks.
I received this product at a discounted price, but the opinions expressed are 100% my own.
