Premium High Powered Range

I have been using the Samsung 6.3 cu. ft. Smart Slide-in Induction Range with Smart Dial & Air Fry (Model NE63T8911SS/AA) for a few weeks now and am quite impressed. The speed at which these induction burners heat up the pan almost seems like sorcery- no preheating required for sautéing/pan searing. If I turn the burner on high, the pan is at or above 400F within 10-15 seconds. Boiling water time is cut by more than half. It may not seem like a big deal, but these small things make a difference throughout the course of cooking a meal. Not having to build in 10-15 minutes for a pot of water to boil pasta into my planning, or for needing to preheat my cast iron before searing a steak post sous vide is wonderful. In regard to some of the other big features that make this range a powerhouse:
- Smart Dial/ User interface: The front of the oven has a very sleek modern look to it while still packing a ton of features and customization, thanks to the simplified controls through the smart dial that clicks in to work as a button.
- Samsung Smart Things integration: Adding the range to my smartthings app only took a minute and provides some nice functionality. You can see the current status of each burner and the current oven settings, as well as adjust the oven temperature/mode/timer. You can activate the oven remotely, but only if you have turned on smart control from the control screen. Saturday mornings I will preheat the oven from bed so I can throw in a sheet pan of bacon right as I get up.
- No pre-heat Air Fry: the included air fry tray is nice, and the convection fan in the rear has its own heating element that starts throwing heat immediately which is convenient.
- Illuminated knobs and virtual flame: the illuminated knobs are helpful to see what burner is on. It also just adds to the premium feel of the oven. The virtual flame is a bit of a gimmick and is only on the main burner, but still looks neat.
My only real complaint with the range is the main burner seems needlessly squished on top of the small burner behind it. It can be a bit awkward to using both the main burner and the one behind it. I’m rarely using all 4 burners, so it has only been an issue once, but certainly something to reconsider in the next generation of this product.
I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to switch to induction.
