Lots of Features at an…

When compared to other dishwasher brands, Samsung usually packs a lot of features into a pretty small price tag, and this is similar. Features like the AutoRelease door used to require an 800 series Bosch (now trickling down to the 500 series), so it's nice to see Samsung including the feature for a fraction of the price. Linking to Wi-Fi is cool so that I can receive notifications when it is complete. We did have some issues setting it up as it appears to be quite particular about symbols in the SSID and wireless key, but we finally got it working.
Wash performance is very good. The first and second racks are always sparkling. The third rack doesn't get the jets as much as the lower two, so if you have very dirty items, do not put them up there (and to their credit, Samsung tells you as much in the manual). Drying performance is equally good, especially if you use the rinse aid on the higher levels like 5/6. The AutoRelease door is very helpful here as well. Dishes are warm/cool to the touch at the end of the cycle since the door will have been open, something I had to do manually with my previous dishwasher. Initially, the noise level surprised me in that it seemed to be just as loud as the 49 dba Bosch it was replacing, but it appears to have quieted down, both with time and with packing more dishes into the space. There will be no issues with noise in an open floor plan.
Unfortunately, there are a few negatives. While the first two racks slide effortlessly, the third rack is not as smooth, and you usually have to lift up on it to prevent it from sticking. Also, the third rack has tines for silverware that are non-removable, so if you prefer to use the cutlery basket for silverware, you can't remove them on the third rack to make more space. Additionally, the cleaning performance isn't great on the third rack, and the second rack could really benefit from three levels instead of just two as one seems too low and one too high. The front face feels very thin compared to my Bosch, and it already has a small (superficial) dent. Finally, installing this is more difficult than it needs to be as clearance on the back of the unit is basically non-existent, and you'll have to work harder to install it than you would other brands.
Still, for the money, it's a very good dishwasher, and other brands will be hard-pressed to match the value proposition that Samsung is providing in this model. Recommended.
