SJ55W Ultra WQHD Monitor
This Monitor Is Wide!

I tend to spend about a third of my professional life working from home, and my current monitor wasn't really making things very easy for me. I purchased this monitor in hopes of making my experience a little bit better, and I'm glad I did! This thing is great.
Pros:
- The ultra wide format is really useful for having multiple open windows at once. As an analyst I spend a lot of time in Excel working with multiple open workbooks, and this works out much better for me than having two other monitors side-by-side.
- Picture-by-picture (PBP) mode can be incredibly useful for when I'm working on two systems at one time.
- The monitor stand, while slightly wobbly, can actually tilt up or down and holds reasonably still after it is adjusted.
- The resolution, while not quite fine enough that I can't distinguish individual pixels, is quite reasonable and noticeably better than 1080p.
- 2x HDMI and 1 DisplayPort input give you plenty of connection options.
- Monitor has audio output for speakers or headphones, which can be convenient.
Cons:
- Due to its width, open windows on the far left or right of the display can experience some slight color shifting.
- It's not easily clear how to end up with a better refresh rate than 50Hz on a Mac. Even though I work in the tech sector, I don't really enjoy having to go digging for information on how to enable it. To be fair, it might be that my USB-C to HDMI adaptor is the culprit here, but as such an adaptor is mandatory for any recent MacBook owner it would have been nice for the manual to have provided some information on this topic.
Overall:
I'm impressed! it's responsive; the viewing angle is decent, the resolution is good, and it has multiple HDMI inputs. For the price (currently sitting in the $430 range at the time of this review), if you're looking for an ultra wide monitor this will be hard to beat.
