LG TONE Free FN7 (Black)
My First Impression of…

Let me first say that I’ve owned several brands of headphones/earbuds over the 10 or more years. In addition to this brand new FN7, I still own a pair of Sony WF-1000XM3. When it comes to earbuds I also tend to use them largely outdoors when I am out for my long runs. Thus in this review I will occasionally make comparisons to my Sony earbud. First allow me to say that I like the initial look and feel of the FN7 earbuds. The earbuds shiny finish makes it look nice and classy. However, when used for exercise where one may have sweaty hands, this pair of shiny earbuds will become dulled by your fingerprints. The charging case is pretty compact and that makes it easy to carry around and or even in the pockets of my jeans or shorts. Some features where I feel FN7 is better than my Sony earbuds is that it has an IPX4 water resistant certification which should help face up to some sweat and light-weight splashes. This is an important feature for me whenever I am caught in light rain doing my outdoor runs; a feature that my Sony lacks! Another aspect which favoured the FN7 is their in-canal earbuds seem to stay in my ears much better than my Sony earbuds?! Whenever I am out running, I have to “reinsert” my Sony earbuds at least 2 times to prevent it from slipping off my ears. This happened once and fortunately in the impact on the pedestrian walkway did not damage the earbud. So far, I haven’t had to adjust the FN7 earbuds in my past 4 runs. The silicone material appears to make the tip match the contours of my ear making it extraordinarily snug and safe. Where the contact controls is concern, really like the fact that I can change the default command and customize it to my liking. This is another feature where my Sony WF-1000XMS lacks too. The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature. The LG Tone Free FN7 pleasantly stunned me with its noise-cancelling “skills”. The earphones provided stable noise cancellation, coming comparatively near the class-leading Sony WF-1000XM3! Finally, the quality of the sound. The FN7 produces pretty pure and clarity in the sound. I like the base response but I think it is weak in the high mids and highs. Whenever, I play raps, hip hop tracks the beats and thumps sounded great. However, when I play rock music, somehow it doesn't sound as good as my Sony earbuds. I think its weak in the high mids and highs and so for certain genres I feel my Sony is better sounding. Considering the price difference of LG FN7 and Sony WF-1000XM3, I feel the FN7 is a pretty good buy.
