LG TONE Free FN7 (White)
Stylish and Good But Takes…
04/06/2021 00:06
TL;DR
Pretty solid sound quality but only after you take the time and effort to adjust the EQ in the LG Tone Free app. Fairly thin case that fits nicely into pocket with added unique (gimmicky) feature a UV light to disinfect your ear buds while they recharge.
Sound Quality
Bass can definitely use more work but then again, it's a tiny earbud so don't get your hopes up. The mid-ranges are good and voices sound incredibly crisp and clear. However, do take note that you will need to download the LG Tone Free app (yes, its free) and take the time and effort to fine tune the EQ to your liking to achieve better sound quality. There are 4 presets that the app has as default but none of them sounded particularly nice or immersive enough. You got to customise the EQ, otherwise the sound quality is just meh straight out of the box.
Using it for calls and video meeting
It works. That's about it. Don't expect anything more than that. the microphone is adequate when you speak normally but struggle to pick up your voice if you whisper.
Touch controls
My biggest gripe with the ear buds are the touch controls. It's extremely sensitive to the point where my music stops and starts even with the slightest of touch. Just merely adjusting or putting your earbuds into your ear disrupts your music. One work around which I eventually fell back on was to again go into the LG Tone Free app and to disable the single touch button or simply disabling and locking the touch controls. It works but I basically reduce the full functionality of the controls.
Battery
My longest continuous use was about 4h with active noise cancelling. Not the best but it's alright considering that I can pop it back into the case for 5min of charging and it goes for another 40min or so. Small matter since we won't be using it on a plane or long-haul flights anytime soon.
Active Noise Cancelling (ANC)
The ANC is one of the better ones and does it job well to cancel out a significant amount of white noise but it won't really work if a plane flies over you. Fellow WFH comrades, I know your pain of fighter jet noises but the only way to survive them is to have a quiet heart.
In Summary
These are some pretty decent earphones but only buy them when they are on discount which various online sites usually have.
