Bose QuietComfort® Earbuds II
Great sound and noise-cancelling

First impression on getting the Quietcomfort Buds II out of the box and into my ears was not being sure they were in. The design is a different approach to competitors, which generally use a rubber tip tightly fitting the ear opening as the main way of keeping the earbud in place. This isn't great for comfort, and for me led to rhythmic sounds when walking as the rest of the earbud bounced around. The Quietcomfort Buds II differ in that the tips only exert a small pressure to keep a seal, with secondary wings used to keep them in place. Once the tips are in place, you turn the buds, and the wings keep them securely. I can barely feel them when in place, and worried a bit about how secure they are, but after a week of use they have never worked themselves loose or fallen out. The sound cancelling is excellent, better than I've heard from any other set of earbuds - walking alongside a busy road I could barely hear the car noise with nothing playing, and putting music on made the traffic inaudible. I'm also surprised at how small a profile they have, barely noticable when in-ear. The sound is excellent - not quite up to overear headphones quality, but as close as you'll get in buds.
Downsides are pretty minor - there's no way to wirelessly charge the buds, USB-C only, but I've only had to charge them once a week, so it's not too onerous. The other thing is that I sometimes find it useful to wear just one bud, for example to listen to an audiobook or podcast while walking. You can do this with the Quietcomfort Buds II, but only with the right earbud, however this is apparently going to be fixed with a firmware update.
Overall, a great set of earbuds, making listening a pleasure.
