LG 65QNED816QA 4K Smart…

I have had around 3 weeks to familiarise myself with this TV and its many settings & functions.
This TV has replaced a 55” 4Ksmart TV that is about 3 years old.
Set up. The first thing I noticed when unpacking the TV was that there was no instructional manual other than for the stand assembly, not even a quick start guide.
I decided to wall mount the TV and so had no need of the stand.
I have connected the TV to a Virgin Media 4K Tivo box, a 4k Amazon fire stick, a JBL sound bar and hard wired it to the internet via ethernet cable (not supplied).
I switched on the TV and followed the on-screen instructions. Set up was simple and straight forward. The TV recognised all the attached peripheral’s, allowing me to control each of the devices with the TV’s remote control.
I turned to a Netflix 4K broadcast to checkout the picture and sound quality.
The picture quality is glorious. The previous TV pales in comparison, and this has a larger screen.
There are 9 pre-set picture modes to choose from. The choice is a combination of your own preferences and the type of show you are watching.
In film maker mode the picture displays as the film maker intended apparently.
You can, of course, customise the picture settings to suit yourself.
The sound is crisp and clear with 7 pre-set sound modes to choose from when using the TV speakers for sound output. These modes are however not supported when using an external speaker such as a sound bar for output.
The TV remote has buttons for accessing Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Rakuten TV, Google assistant and alexa.
Other apps can be added, such as Discovery+ if they are compatible with the TV.
The remote control has a built-in air mouse which is useful for navigating the menus and features.
The remote control has a built-in microphone so that you can also use voice commands to navigate. I found this worked very well to start with but not so well after the 3rd automatic software update and now takes a little longer to recognise the command and sometimes not at all.
On my previous 4K TV I was unable to watch BT sport Ultimate. Although the picture was fine the sound was corrupted making it sound like chipmunks talking. I always put this down to the Virgin TV box but since changing to this TV I am now able to watch BT Sport ultimate in all its glory.
I have awarded the TV 4 stars overall as I can’t award half a star, and nothing gets 5 stars unless it completely blows me away.
Overall, I am very happy with it and can happily recommend it to others.
