OLED55G26LA
Almost another dimension

Having upgraded to the 55" LG G2, from a 10 year old 47" LG LCD, I can confidently say that this latest technology is worlds apart from my old unit. The G2 is lighter but not much larger overall then my previous unit, which is amazing considering the increase screen real estate on the G2.
The OLED pixels are super crisp with no perceivable bleed over, as you can see from the close up image I've shared, leaving a clear image with the deepest blacks I have seen in quite some time. This clarity is aided by the HDR capability of the G2 which provides exceptional contract even at the extremes of brightness. The colours are vibrant where they should be, and the different display settings provide a number of options to further enhance content. DIsplay clarity is so good that, even the dog has begun to show an interest in what is happening on screen from time to time, something he has never done previously.
Sound quality is also worlds apart from my previous unit, even though both are mounted in the exact same location. The G2's sound has added extra depth to ever show and movie we have consumed on it. It really feels like the sound is filling the room, which is admittedly not a large room but even so, this gives additional feel to the sound and dimension we'd not previously experienced.
There are a couple of negatives though. The G2 comes with a flush mount wall bracket, this would be lovely but does require your wall to be flat or it looks a bit weird, it also means sockets are visible beneath the TV to run power, etc. to. You can mount the TV on a VESA mount, as I have, but the instructions for this are non-existent and honestly I wasn't sure if it was permissible. Secondly, the AI sound feature setting does cause rather vast variations in perceived volume level. Leaving us reaching for the remote to adjust the level far to frequently, we've switched it off and stick to the more predictable settings instead.
All in I think this is a great TV, I would buy one again and I would happily recommend it to a friend or family member. Though I do think I would suggest they check out the C2 first to see if that would cover their needs, as I do wonder if the increased cost of the G2 is worth it.
