Great TV with some design…

TV arrived well packaged and easy to unpack, maybe too much polystyrene for environmentalists though. Reading the limited instructions it appeared that a special mount was required for putting it on the wall, this would be extra cost as its not supplied and the hole centres in the back of the TV are not VESA standard, however did manage to mount it with a VESA based bracket. The input ports and the electrical cable are on opposite sides of the unit, so now have to provide trunking on 2 walls instead of one - they should be on the same side! Two of the input ports are problematic when hanging the TV on the, the Ethernet and Optical ones are in the back of the TV and are being bent over when the TV is in place - they should be either at the bottom or the side of the unit.
Once hung an switched on the TV is very easy to set up and very quick and responsive to input. All up and working within 10 minutes. The range of operations available including web browsing are excellent and all respond quickly.
The picture is first class, it is way better than any previous unit with deep rich colours and a bright screen that shows the programmes off to the best effect. I tried several of the possible settings and settled on the sports mode as giving the best alround solution.
The sound quality is a bit disappointing and lack adjustment in the various modes and lacks depth, I will add a soundbar soon.
The various streaming services included make switching between platforms much easier than previous units. One minor annoyance is the hiding of the sleep mode control so obscurely that I had to call LG tech help - who were also unsure where it was - I dont like my TV switching off after a set time.
All in all it is a big step forward in viewing experience and usability. Just need to think a bit more carefully about the arrangements of the inputs and wiring.
