When I opened the box and took the TV out I was impressed with the look and feel of it. The thin bezel around the screen is barely noticeable. Initial setup was simple and easy. I was able to connect to the WiFi, log in to the relevant apps and connect my other smart devices via the apps very easily. The ThinQ app recognised the TV straight away. The first thing I did was to check for updates and update the WebOS which was quick.
The remote control is great! It’s very well designed and ergonomic, with the buttons laid out in a way that feels natural to use. I don’t have to keep looking at the remote all the time to see if I’m pressing the right button. The wand feature is really helpful and easy to use too. I’m really impressed with the voice command feature. It easily recognised my commands without having to speak unnaturally.
The picture quality is much better than my old TV. The colours and blacks are much clearer and vivid which is what I would expect from a 4K LED TV.
The sound quality is excellent with the AI feature giving clearer and louder sound. The TV is currently sitting on a stand away from the wall, it will be interesting to hear the difference if any when I fit it on to the wall.
The number of USB connections are a too few in my opinion. With only 2 connections it’s quite limited. I’ve connected a USB drive to one port and had to purchase a splitter to connect to the remaining port in case I need to connect more devices later. A couple more USB ports would have been perfect. The number of HDMI ports are adequate the moment. I’ve connected my sound bar, games console, and TV stick to 3 of the 4 ports. Switching between the sources is very easy with the remote, especially using voice command.
I’m still playing around with all the features on the TV. I’m yet to figure out how to automatically display my doorbell camera on the TV when someone rings the door. It does work when using the voice command though.
Overall I would definitely recommend this TV for anyone looking to upgrade/buy a new TV. The RRP is quite a lot but still gives you good value for money when compared to other brands with similar specs. LG is a known leading brand in televisions especially when it comes to picture and sound quality.
UPDATE JULY 2022
TV startup has slowed down. After just over 2 months of use I have got dead pixels on the screen. It's very surprising that it happened so quickly. I didn't expect LG screens to be like that!. I will be contacting LG.
