Amazing quality and design,…

Having been a plasma owner for the past 12 years, I wanted to get the same level of quality from my first OLED as I got from the market-leading plasma TV at the time of purchase.
LG has for years been at the forefront of OLED technology and they've done it again with the G2. Whilst OLED burn-in always worried me a little bit and having seen it on other OLEDs and plasma TVs in the past (not my own) it was something that made me wary, especially at the higher price point
With the release of LG's first set with a heatsink to reduce the risk of said burn-in and the fact that the panel warranty now covers burn-in as well, I felt far more confident that it would no longer be an issue and was happy to spend a not inconsiderable amount of hard-earned money.
This set is huge, but with its ultra-slim bezels, it doesn't feel a whole lot bigger than my ancient 60-inch plasma (with huge bezels) it is replacing, and when you take its depth into account and it's a mere slip of a thing.
The picture quality is amazing....and I'm shocked at how bright this set can get, even in a brightly lit room. The colours are incredible and when playing back full HDR media, this thing just blows the viewer away. That said, it's not only 4K material that looks great, 1080 material still pops and looks great, even at this size.
If I had any negatives, the remote itself would be one. At this price point, the remote should at least be backlit, and it feels quite cheap in the hand when compared to the competition, so much so that I've reverted to using a well-known multi remote for full remote control duties. I'm also not a massive fan of WebOS. Yes, it's super snappy and has all the needed apps, but it feels almost invasive with the number of ads that bombard you from the home screen. I know all new TVs are like this but it feels a little more heavy-handed on this LG set.
That said, the two negatives above are minor ones and are forgotten once your chosen media starts playing. Turn the lights down to enjoy a movie in a darkened room and this set is off the charts good. My other 4k LCD sets look great but the infinite contrast of OLED makes the quality this thing puts out, nigh on impossible to beat.
It's not often I'd spend such a substantial amount of money on a TV, and I hope it can last as long as my last set...but I couldn't be happier with it and look forward to watching it every single day/night.
Highly recommended to all who want the best on offer
