LG 55" OLED G2 Review

Fantastic picture quality. Brightness and sharpness really noticeable, 'Stranger Things' is cinematic, whereas before it appeared much more 'glossy'. Even SD pictures are improved. Reflected shine off the screen is now hardly noticeable, even in a very bright white room with skylights. I had been worried how well the remote would work, but it's actually great - just like a Wii control.
I feel it's worth mentioning some annoyances as everything else on the TV is PERFECT. So these are VERY minor issues, but I only mention them in case they are important to you:
* Remote feels/looks quite cheap. Screen bezel has sharp edges at the bottom corners. Both not a premium TV finish
* Some services not set up for pointer control (e.g. Apple TV+ lacks play/pause as it expects those buttons)
* No Chromecast functionality despite other Google integrations (Stadia/Assistant/search etc). This TV could've been a complete one-device streaming solution with one fewer things plugged in to it. But the TV still needs a cheap Chromecast stick
* Doesn't detect/auto set up Chromecast like other devices. The TV doesn't even list Google as a device manufacturer
* Google Assistant integration is poor, and also doesn’t support multiple Google user profiles
* Hey LG vocabulary/functionality is limited - you can't just change the channel by name
* WebOS is good but the homescreen spacing takes up a lot of real-estate instead of a slim version for just streaming services which keeps a programme playing in the background. Right now, features I will never use (sports alerts, web browsing) just waste space
* WebOS editorial is really poor: recommending several versions of the same film from different streaming services alongside shopping channels. 'Related content' is just a YouTube search of a programme title
* User profiles don't integrate with streaming service profiles, so just add complexity and not much else right now
* Some useful settings and functions are hidden away in sub-menus - e.g. TV Timeshift is two menu levels down
* Smart home integration is presently limited to a very small range of non-LG devices
* The TV's built in user guide is poorly translated
However, despite these tiny annoyances I would still buy this TV as it is great at what you want it for - picture quality. I'd actually give it 4.5 stars if I could award half marks! And all but two of these niggles could be addressed by software updates (there's been 2 in a fortnight), so there's hope they will)
