Seriously good TV

Let's get this out of the way at the beginning. The LG OLED 65C2 is a seriously good TV.
It was the quality of the blacks that hit me first. We previously had a 1080p LCD, the difference in the blacks between that old TV and this new OLED is huge. There is so much detail in the darker areas of the image and the darkest blacks are completely black, rather than the grey you become used to with an LCD. Very impressive. It’s a seriously impressive picture.
I’ve always been reluctant to move to an OLED for two main reasons; viewing on a bright day and OLED burn-in. Burn-in is not something I can comment on yet, but all reviews seem to imply that, while burn-in was a problem for previous generations of OLEDs, improvements in technology and clever pixel cleaning systems result in it no longer being an issue. It also turns out that I shouldn’t have worried about daytime viewing. The EVO panel in this 2022 C2 is incredibly bright, easily on par with our old LCD.
The colours are rich and full of contrast, while not looking at all unnatural. You can get lost looking at set piece scenes in blockbuster movies.
A negative I would mention is the screen is reflective due to the glossy finish. I have found myself drawing curtains purely to prevent reflections.
Other points:
The TV is light. It would be easy to lift with only one person if it wasn’t so large. With two, it’s easy to lift and hang on a wall mount.
All ports are on the side of the TV. This makes it easy to plug in cables as you don’t need to get behind the screen.
The power cable is wired into the TV, which could cause an issue if you need to feed cables through channels in the wall.
The remote is great, using the remote like a pointer to move the cursor around the screen takes getting used to, but is useful once you have.
It’s a very smart looking TV. The bezels are so small that there are no LG logos on display at all.
The UI is quick and responsive. The remote includes dedicated buttons to the most popular streaming apps.
We’ve paired this TV with a soundbar using the ARC HDMI port. The setup process was easy, although to get the best quality sound from the soundbar I did have to set the TV to ‘pass through' sound without processing it (Sound -> Advanced Settings -> Digital Sound Output = Pass Through). The TV remote automatically controls the volume of the soundbar, which is convenient.
Overall we are very happy with this TV. I’m looking forward to testing it further with all my favourite films!
