#Gifted The opportunity to test the AEG T7-1-6BP-U Gourmet 7 toaster (what a mouthful!) came at a very opportune time - our old toaster was on its last legs and by coincidence my wife had pointed out the new AEG toaster and kettle as a possible replacement as they both look so stylish in the adverts we has seen for them.
The toaster certainly is a lovely graphite grey colour and would fit in well in any kitchen - I was a little disappointed on first taking it out of the box as it somehow looks sleeker in the photos however its still a very smart piece of kit.
We usually take bread straight from the freezer to make toast in the mornings and while this has a useful and efficient defrost option it also copes with frozen sliced bread without complaint - however I feel that this is one of the slower toasters I have owned (although when you are waiting for your toast after the aroma of toasting bread for the rest of the family I guess anything would be slow!) - I have found that for frozen sliced bread setting 4 works perfectly but this takes around 2 minutes and 29 seconds to pop up - as you will see from the photo however it gives excellently toasted bread even with a thick crust inserted.
Aside from that the bagel options is brilliant and gives you perfectly toasted but very hot to the touch bagels and the toasting rack is proving its worth now its hot cross bun season.
Easy to clean with the removable crumb tray and a quick wipe over has it shining again.
The inclusion of the cover is an excellent idea and not one I have seen before however its unfortunate that this is made out of cheap looking plastic that makes the toaster look less sleek than it actually is.
All in all a great addition to any kitchen and I am now off to order the kettle to match.
Not much more to add other than this produces great toast which is, after all, probably the best thing since sliced bread......
