21st July 2021.
Rather excited to be chosen to take part in the HP Envy printer campaign. So, I ordered the printer via the link in the email (from Argos), ready to collect in the morning.
Following day, I had some business to attend to for the day, so unable to set up and fill in the survey until late in the afternoon (hope I completed the form within the time frame).
Well, what can I say! Got the printer out of the box (tick). However, trying to take pictures as I went along, on my phone was a bit of a nightmare, I had to enlist the help of my partner and use his iPhone (more recent model) to assist me.
When setting this up, I was attempting to use my iPhone, which all things being equal, shouldn’t be a problem, but it seems once again, my iPhone is too old and the software is not supported, so I had to get my partners phone to set up the HP app, then his phone rang part way through and the app ‘hung’, so what should have been a simple 15-minute episode, turned into an almost 2-hour nightmare.
I alternated between 2 phones and an old desktop which is usually OK, but not on this occasion as it wanted me to connect a lead between the printer and the PC (of course this was not supplied as it is supposed to be wireless printing).
By the way, I have been using wireless printing for a long time (used to live abroad and used it long before the technology was widely available in the UK), so I am far from a dinosaur when it comes to some bits of technology.
After eventually setting the printer up, I was able to link the printer to my PC and print successfully.
Now I am trying to write bits about the printer set up and post, but need to link my account, or do I?
Contacted insiders by sending a message via Facebook on the account where I post, but it told me to email, which I did and now I am still waiting.
Posted on twitter, but not sure if I did this correct. Things have changed since I last did a campaign.
Part of me is excited to try the printer (with the “carrot” of getting a partial refund for writing about my experience with the printer was enough for me).
I had been considering another one for a while, as my current printer is held together with tape and bluetac for both the paper feeder and lid hinge.
Eventually I hear from Insiders and ‘my testimonial’ is ready, seems I not the only 1, lots of us are in this boat.
All in all, 1st experience is ”trying”, but perseverance (thankfully I had lots that day) is key.
The kids liked the coloured lights.
