A great all rounder for…

LG's are pioneers in the OLED TV space, so much so competitors use their display for their own TV's. This is my second LG OLED TV and with the new "EVO" panel my expectations were very high.
We'll start with the design, the LG G1 is beautiful. It has a super slim design that compliments the need to wall mount this TV. Once it is wall mounted, it looks like a piece art hanging on the wall. You will definitely need to bring a friend along to wall mount this. The bezels are reassuringly thin, so you are immersed in the content you watch.
The software for this generation of LG's TV's has had an overhaul and I must say I am not a fan. The software is definitely functional but a little clunky and laggy at times. For example, loading up Netflix isn't as snappy as it should be and switching between input or changing settings just feels a little slow. At the end of the day, this is isn't a deal breaker - once you're your watching something or playing a game you forget about these little annoyances.
Now to the most important factor, how is the performance? Watching films and TV on this screen is a delight. The new generation of screen being used here is brighter than any other previous OLED I have used. The inclusion of all major HDR formats like Dolby VIsion, HDR10 makes watching HDR content really immersive and punchy. I will say, LG does not have class leading picture processing, but it is still very good. Since this is an OLED, it is susceptible to "Burn In", however LG includes some features to help avoid this including a feature called Screen Move which shifts your content a few pixel regularly.
Where LG's set shines above other TV sets is its gaming features. First of all, all four HDMI ports on this set are HDMI 2.1 ready which means its ready to be paried with a next gen console and support all of the features enabled by this including VRR and 120fps gameplay. All of this is to say, your gaming experience will be stellar. Smooth gameplay with little input lag. LG even includes a handy little game dashboard which lets you see your current FPS and other useful tweaks while you're playing games.
To summarise, I see the LG G1 being an excellent all rounder if you both watch films and play video games. I don't think this is a class leading set if you just watch films & TV, but it's not far off. If you're a gamer, this set is a no brainer. No other TV brand is able to match the feature set in this regard. I am sure you will be happy with this lovely TV
