First, know what you want

The concept of a hybrid watch is function over desire – quite like a middle of the range smart phone is to the top of the range, wallet-shrinking big hitters. It is not a watch for everyone.
It will never make the short list if you have your eye on the latest Galaxy’s or iWatches, or are swayed by the feature-rich fitness options found in the likes of your Garmins, Fitbits or Polars.
But not everybody wants an overstuffed software-equivalent of a tablet strapped to their arm. Nor do they want a smart watch handicapped by a battery life that requires daily charging just to be able to work.
And that is where the Fossil Hybrid watch simply excels. As a father with a 1-year-old, I wanted a watch that would always keep me notified of any calls or texts from my wife. And a watch that didn’t require daily charging. But beyond that? I didn’t really care for or need anything else from my watch.
Looks 10/10 – The watch is gorgeous to look at. It looks and feels well made, has the weighty feel to match. It is a far more fashionable pairing for work and evening attire than your smart watch equivalents, and this aspect alone gives me the sense that the watch leans more towards the older generation or working professional where smart casual attire is a more common wardrobe choice.
Functionality 9/10 –You don’t have the wasted digital time displayed alongside the analogue functionality. Instead, you have immediate access to the date, weather temperature, and fitness readouts in the form of your heart rate and steps completed. And when linked to your smart phone, displays calls and text alerts. Where it falls short of a perfect 10 is the display quality and default 2-tone font and screen colour.
Battery Life 11/10 – Ignoring its first pre-use charge, I have had this watch for almost a month and have only charged it once. Once! Those reading this that have smart watches will be shaking their heads and thinking I’ve made a typo. I haven’t.
Customer Care 10/10 – There is a learning curve during first use, though it is super simple and user-friendly once you know. In frustration though, I had emailed their customer support – and got a response the same day. Mind blown!
Overall - I would go so far as to recommend this watch to have alongside your smart watch. It’s a surprisingly fashionable, yet handily tech-laden dress watch, that is as easy to use as an advanced analogue watch with stopwatch and alarm clock functionality.
A very easy recommendation!
