Google Pixel Watch Matte Black with Obsidian Active Band
Good... for a smart watch

I've had previous fitbit watches and haven't been convinced of their practicality or usefulness but I decided I'd give this watch a go. After all, it's Google's first step into the space and they're known for their user friendly interfaces.
The first step was unpacking it and the packaging was a little fiddly to unbundle - I didn't want to just shred it so I took a little bit of time to unpackage. Then I switched it on and immediately the first thing that appears on the screen was the words "erasing". Very strange but was soon followed by the familiar Google "G".
Once there, there are some simplistic instructions on what to do to pair the watch with the phone. They didn't work! After a bit of troubleshooting I decided to try an alternative strategy. I restarted the watch. Unpaired from my phone and downloaded the pixel watch app. This seemed to do the trick and we were finally rolling. Set up was fairly straightforward off my phone and took about 5 mins.
Aesthetically, the display is excellent and I love the ability to choose from various faces and various icons of interest is great. I am using my watch as a notification and information tool rather than a fitness one so the ability to customise what interests me and interact with my notifications is great. The only criticism I'd have is that the rounded display is not probably the best option for my purposes. I'd prefer something rectangular.
Navigation is easy and helped by a quick tutorial at the end of the set up. It is easy to find what you want. I like the ability to use the device for payment but was disappointed that both my credit cards support Apple Pay and Samsung Pay but not Google Pay - so that was a bust.
I also like the fact that the watch has an SOS trigger. I would feel safer knowing I have this in particularly unsafe situations.
The watch comes with a 6 month subscription to fitbit premium but I am sceptical I will take it beyond that. Time will tell. It allows for heart rate tracking, sleep tracking and a few workout options for those interested. There's also the ability to log water consumption, weight, stress levels amongst other things.
The next thing I tried was music. But much like my payment methods, my choice of music subscription is incompatible - I use Amazon Music. So another bust.
Overall it's a nice little watch. Would I recommend it to someone looking for a smart watch? Sure. Would I recommend it as a useful device for someone who isn't? No.
