Hisense Dehumidifier

We live within a Pacific Coastal area, so the weather is constantly changing from a heavy Marine layer of Clouds (in the morning) to a bright sunny day (during the summer), so we are constantly getting humidity changes, while having cool 65 degree days. And after seeing the wife spend hundreds each year on desiccant bags, I choose the Hisense 50-Pint 2-Speed Dehumidifier. Unboxing, unpacking, and setting up the unit was exceptionally easy – basically you just lift the outing box casing, remove the shipping material, and plug it in – too easy.
It fairly light weight for 1 person to lift and move it around as needed. I plugged it in and it started up without any issues. So starting out the house was around 68% Humidity, and left if running for a few hours while I left & ran some errands. When I came back a couple of hours later, it had dropped the Humidity down to 50% and the bucket was already half full of water (25 pints), like WOW. It has a 50 pint water holding tank built in..
It had gone into idle mode as the humidity setting was as low as it could go, and I’m thinking I’d have to empty it twice a day at this rate. I did use the water for some plants outside. It does have a water hose connection to allow for a constant drain solution, which would be great If I could figure that one out. Until then, it’s plant water.
Since we don’t need air conditioning, one good thing I see with this units is that while dehumidifying the whole house, is that it does give off a little bit of heat which is a bonus and plus in our area, which will help ward off the supper cool nights. This will also come as an added benefit during the cold rainy winters we have too.
The unit is a good size, but manageable for locating in a dead space area or between some furniture. It’s a bit loud at 50 decibels, but after awhile becomes like white” noise after awhile. Since it’s rated at dehumidifying 4,500 square feet, I would recommend locating it some place where a little added background noise isn’t an issue. It also has a nice washable air filter, easy digital controls (with an Automatic Mode to save energy), and an automated shut off for when the water bucket gets full.
I was able to get a small discount on it, so it was worth the money to me when you consider the reduction in your Heating & Cooling bills over time.
I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion
